微軟從八月份開始 會把舊版的 Windows XP Update V4網頁通通移除

改版成為 Windows XP Update V6

不過其實有些更新檔是可手動下載的 只不過要常常到微軟網站看發布

應該已經有人碰過了 Windows Genuine Advantage 驗證工具

不安裝 是無法進入Windows XP Update 網頁

並且用那個停用的解決方法

Windows Genuine Advantage + Javascript = Workaround

(July 27 2:45PM EST) I admit, the IE script is a bit flaky... but the underlying browser isn't much better. IE is such a pain in the ass... It seems after seeing the validation orange box o' death, a mere refresh of the page resolves the issue.

(July 27 1:22PM EST) NOTE: Stop sending me mail about modifying the DLL and/or using the manage add-on trick. The DLL only returns the hash returned from activation servers, it's not possible to edit this file anymore. The manage add-ons trick will only work for so long and only does so on Microsoft Update, not Microsoft Downloads.

Continue. Continue. Click. Click. Click. Sigh, my fingers could do without the extra clicking, hence why I came up with greasemonkey and trixie scripts for bypassing WGA on Microsoft's download pages.

For Internet Explorer users:

* You'll need to download trixie and the relevant user script [Thank Mark S. for fixing it!] (temporary host until I upload it to e64, sorry). Simply download the .js file and drop it into trixie's scripts\ folder.
* Fire up Internet Explorer (32-bit) and click Tools > Trixie Options. You should see WGA Workaround. If it's not already checked, check it. Uncheck the others if you don't want to use them (recommended).
* Visit Microsoft Downloads to test it out!

For Mozilla Suite/Firefox users:

* You'll need to download greasemonkey and the relevant user script. Simply download the .js file to a temporary location (like the Desktop), drag it onto a Mozilla Suite/Firefox window and click Tools > Install User Script. Keep the defaults.
* Visit Microsoft Downloads to test it out!

For Opera users:

* It should be pretty easy to port over the scripts -- I'll work on this later this evening.

For Konqueror/lynx users:

* You're kidding, right?
