These products achieve error correction performance for data read from the disc of double error correction in C1 and quadruple error
correction in C2 using the “refined super strategy”. This is the maximum possible performance for the CD format. As the error correction capability is increased, error correction efficiency becomes a major issue. However, these products provide processing capabilities adequate to surmount this issue. These circuits provide a C2 quadruple error correction capacity while achieving error correction efficiency equivalent to that of earlier double C1, double C2 error correction systems. At speeds from normal-playback speed to 24´ speed, these LSIs can logically correct up to 16 consecutive frames of missing data.
