很多人利用電腦參加分散式運算，例如 UD (grid.org) 與 SETI。當然，PCDVD 也有很多熱心的網友加入不同的計算。

另，柏克萊的 BOINC 整合了了多種計畫，只要裝一個 client 便可計算 "不同的計畫"。
