IBM賣SERVER部門給聯想,有些想像空間, CPU強些,還可以有多點虛擬軟體的效能可用, 未來大型DATA CERTER會如何搞, 也要看google這類公司,有何方向、想法,。 POWER PC也是很榮光的CPU,406/605 火星好奇號用的,好像就是605。 |

The biggest advantage ARM has in the server space is the opportunity it gives customers to customise their ARM-based server SoCs. Intel just provides a ready-made chip and peripherals and the customer can take it or leave it – but if an ARM core is used a customer can tailor the SoC precisely to his requirement. With the big datacentre operators – Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Google et al – increasingly drawing up their own server specs which they then bung over to the Taiwan OEMs for implementation, the customisation opportunity is becoming more valuable.

原來我們都誤會瑞芯微了,RK3288真的是Cortex-A17,只是意外提前曝光CES,被ARM制止,成了Rockchip啞吧吃黃蓮。 看來Cortex-A12已經GG了,A17就是A1小改匯流排,CPU核心微架構跟A12一模一樣。 ![]() Mediatek的雙四核CPU策略放棄高功耗的Cortex-A15,採用較低功耗的A17/A12搭配A7使用28nm製程,符合發哥style,預期業界有人跟進。而目前仍未看到其20nm產品規畫,有內線嗎? ![]() |

If a customer wants big.LITTLE or they are starting a design now, Cortex A17 is the obvious fit. We should see the first devices using Cortex A17 CPU cores shipping in early 2015. Cortex A17 IP will be available to ARM customers for implementation by the end of this quarter. - ARM 季底IP方就緒,MT6595現在端出,是咋回事? ![]() Cortex A17 is a design that is roughly 60% faster than a Cortex A9r4 at a given frequency/process/memory interface (Cortex A12 is 40% faster than A9r4 under the same conditions). On a given process node, the Cortex A17 can occupy around 20% more area than a Cortex A9 or a marginal increase over a Cortex A12 design. Running the same workload, the Cortex A17 is expected to be 20% more energy efficient than the Cortex A9 (race to sleep), but with higher peak power consumption from the A17. ARM expects to be able to deliver similar performance to the Cortex A15 (in mobile apps/benchmarks, likely not in absolute performance), but in a much smaller area and at a lower power.
