為限制最高法院權力，納坦雅胡內閣尋求廢止法官在撤銷行政、立法者決策時，使用「合理性」這個概念。

合理性（reasonableness）這個法律概念見諸許多國家的司法體系。若某項決策未能考量到所有當事方、或沒給每個環節相應重視、或給不相關因素過多權重，都會成為法院以不具合理性為由駁回的心證。

但納坦雅胡政府及其選民認為「合理性」是過於模糊的概念，在以色列法律中從未經明文規定。最高法院一些法官今年使用這一概念阻止資深的極端宗教正統派政治人物戴瑞（Aryeh Deri）入閣，激怒納坦雅胡政府。法院當時以戴瑞近期稅務詐欺有罪定讞，認為延攬他入閣不具合理性。

感覺像是法條解釋限於文字明面意義或是基於「立法精神」的差別。
有人知道以色列是大陸法系還是海洋法系？

It was former Supreme Court Chief Justice Aharon Barak who decided to grant Basic Laws authority at the level of constitutional laws. Israel does not have a constitution.
