《今日美國》（USA Today）過去就曾報導過，
美國海軍最新的維吉尼亞級攻擊型潛艇「科羅拉多號」（USS Colorado）
也搭載了一個非傳統搖桿的遊戲把手。
《今日美國》報導指出，會選擇用Xbox 360當潛艇部分設施的操控裝置，
是因為Xbox的手把相當直觀，幾乎所有人都不需要教學就能輕易上手，價格上也相對便宜。

此次事件的關鍵因素, 在於對碳纖維材料特性的錯誤認知導致誤用, 不在於控制器; 一開始新聞關注焦點放在控制器, 是因為這類控制器很多人在玩電玩時用過, 下意識地認為這就是個很 low 的東西, 不應該用來控制潛艇這類高科技產品上.


越來越多人開始意識與理解到碳纖維抗拉不抗壓這個問題, 剛剛又有一個 影片 談到碳纖維不適合用在承受壓縮力的場合:
