看來這一台機器用的人不多吧

but it can't play 'copy once' disc, ie, not CPRM compatible.

What does CPRM stand for?
What you really pay for this drive is only its fancy front panel design. I doubt much about its comparable performance with competitive drives such as Pioneer A08, NEC 3500A, Benq 1620, to name a few. The price is simply rip off from SONY loyal customers, given the drive is not manufactured by Sony itself. I bought more than ten SONY stereo and video components(TV, receivers, DVD players, CD players, casette decks)all because of SONY brand quality and performance guarantee, even they are usually more expensive than competitive brand. To contrary, DVD burner doesn't apply here.

you are really a SONY lover! I do have some Sony goods, but I won't just stuck to its logo. buy something has better features or higher CP, brand name really means almost nothing!

you are right, that Sony 700 DVD burner isn't made by Sony, it's made by LiteOn.

CPRM is content protection on recordable media. it prohibits you duplicating. in order to record 'copy once' programs from DBS, you have to use CPRM compatible devices/media. have tested about 30 models, most ain't compatible with CPRM. will post another article about this issue, stay tuned.
