Pioneer 16x makes much noise during

spin up ...

But , as you said , it is really cute ! ^^

I bought one... It is really not bad !

If you don't care about speed (for burning a

cd-r), I don't think you'll need Pioneer 16x

Panasonic 8x will be good ....

Also , Sony is a good choice,too.

Soon you will need DVD-ROM no more. Because

the DVD-Player will be cheaper than ever

about the Q3/2001 ~ Q1/2002 ....

So I suggest you don't spend too much money

to buy one ! 8X will be enough !

If you like 'made in Japan', I command you to buy the Panasonic 12X about NT$2600--, it's better to read your disk which the disk quality is not good! You can use a NT$5-- CD-R to burn vcd or all kinds of CD format and don't have to worry about if the DVD-ROM can read it or not!! Pioneer is too hot to run for a long time about 4~6 hours, ASUS sometimes too slow in CD-RW and music track reading!!

A software that support complete copy is called CloneCD. Does the Panasonic 12X DVD be supported ? There are three test must be passed for copy.
1、Normal read.
2、Read Subchannel Data from Data Tracks.
3、Read Subchannel Data form Audio Tracks.

I have a Pioneer 16X DVD-Rom and a Panasonic 48X CD-Rom, The speed for reading CD-R, Pioneer DVD-Rom is faster that Panasonic CD-Rom...
The My Panasonic CD-Rom is not supported by Clone-CD

For me, I'm using Panasonic 8X DVD-ROM!
It's really good enough for me, just
'cause it's more stable than some other
drives and the price is not "ugly" like
other drives which were the same level.
