但是使用上方便。螢幕也通常作的比較大一些

因此，要看您的需求而決定
看是常常要帶筆記型電腦跑來跑去
還是要拿來取代 Desktop PC 的.

if you are going to take your notebook around, you will appriciate a lighter notobook. in my opinion, if you alrady have a desktop and the notebook is your second computer, i recommend you get a light one. if it is going to be your only computer, get a full function one (include a cd or dvd rom but not floppy, in my opinion)

general speaking, taiwan made computer is pretty good in quality. but not as good as a japan made or usa made.

a 10.4 screan is too small in my opinion. at least get a 12 inch one. not to meantion the keyboard is more comfortable in 12 inch machine.

get one from big name, and that will save you a lot of trouble. i mean BIG name. like sony, toshiba, ibm, compaq... and so on.

depends on usage. for daily useage. processer speed is NOT that important. no need to go for the fastest one. however, try to get as much RAM as possible. at least 256mb for WinXP. if possible, 512mb is even better.

in your list:
sony sr7 is made in japan and the quality is excellent. but there are 3 drewback. 1. it doesn't come standard with a ethernet port, so you have to buy a pcmcia version. and that machine only come with one type2 slot. 2. the screan is only 10.4 inch. 3. the ram is not standard sodimm. it's micro so-dimm. which is much more expensive than sodimm.

toshiba 4000 is excellent. just more expensive.

omibook 500 is a fine machine. you can use it as dasktop and notebook once you get the base.

if possible, look for pIII-M which has 512k of casche and .13 die (which runs cooler)

我不知道為何加拿大還在賣SR7，不是連SR17都很難買的到了嗎？我同意Antus說的，螢幕只有10吋是小了一點，但是這個是習慣問題，我知道很多人不習慣，但是我覺得我還可以接受（因為我父親的Note就是SR9MK，我自己用的感覺是還好），如果你也是無法忍受這麼小的螢幕，但是又想要輕一點，或許可以考慮IBM的X22。另外補充說明SR7的下下代（SR7-SR17-SRX7）已經出來了，這台除了螢幕小，鍵盤小，老實說我找不出有哪一台的規格比他強，內建藍芽，802.11b網卡外，還有RJ45的網卡接頭，USB跟1394一樣也不少，這也是我買它的原因。當然他也有出比較低階的型號SRX3，雖然用的賽揚650，可是實際上這顆0.13製程的賽揚根本就是外頻100的PIII。如果你喜歡Sony的style，卻又有經濟上的考量，SRX3也可以列入參考喔。

For the Sony SRX7
will be around 90,000$ Taiwan Dollar with External DVD

About the HP I'm not sure for the price
I think will be cheaper

if you are in canada. i think sony would be an excellent choice.

for super small and lite. i think srx7 is an excellent choice. but again, you can only upgrade ram to 256mb using expensive MICRO-DIMM. (around 3 times more expensive than SODIMM) i think you have to calculate the TCO.

sony z505 is good too. 12.1 screan and also made in japan.

ibm quality is very good for higher end model. the screan is excellent and it builds like a tank. (very strong) but some people find it black and ugly though. i think it's more personal taste. the support and warrany is excellent. you can get it fixed almost anywhere around the WORLD!!

personally, i am not a big fan of HP stuff. they are good looking and cure. but the quality is only soso, IMO.

if performance is your piority, looking for notebook with PIII-M with Intel 830 chipset and ATI Radeon with DDR memory.

i don't know where is toshiba 4000 made. but the new 5005 is made in taiwan.. and the quality is hahaha!! giving 4000 is much more expensive, the quality should be much better.

我是買水貨，售價跟日本售價差不多。日本定價是22萬日幣，但是賣場價格大多低於這個價錢，所以換算成台幣不到6萬4。我買的價錢是6萬5，我覺得算是很不錯的價格了，如果你有機會，建議你還是在國內買吧。對了，Antus所提到的外接DVD，不知道他的型號是什麼？我有看到國內的水貨商在賣最新的iLink DVD/CDRW，一台1萬4，所以就算是SRX7＋DVD/CDRW，也不到8萬喔。
