2) Introduction

This driver will work only with the RAGE 128 / 128 PRO family of graphic chips.

** THIS SOFTWARE WILL NOT WORK WITH NON RAGE 128 PRODUCTS **

-- This driver will not work with Windows NT.
-- This driver contains support for multiple languages.
-- This is a Windows 95b/98 driver set with an integrated OpenGL ICD
component. This driver requires the Microsoft software OpenGL driver,
OpenGL32.DLL, for proper operation. Please ensure this file is located
in your /WINDOWS/SYSTEM/ directory. We strongly recommend that
you use the OpenGL32.DLL file that has been included with your version
of Windows 9X. If you are unsure if this file is installed on your system
use Windows Explorer to browse your /WINDOWS/SYSTEM/ directory
for confirmation that OpenGL32.DLL is located there.
-- Microsoft's DirectX 6.1 or later runtime is required for use with this driver.
To obtain DirectX for home users please point your browser to:
http://www.microsoft.com/directx/download.asp
-- This driver also requires the Microsoft software OpenGL driver,
OpenGL32.DLL, for proper operation.

OpenGL for Windows 95 is included in the Windows 95 OSR 2.X and
Windows 98 releases. The libraries for Windows 95 are also available
from the Microsoft ftp site at:
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/softlib/mslfiles/opengl95.exe

3) Installation

THIS DRIVER SET INCLUDES A SETUP PROGRAM WHICH INSTALLS THE
DISPLAY DRIVER WITHOUT INVOKING THE DISPLAY PROPERTIES SCREEN.

THE SETUP PROGRAM MAY TAKE A MINUTE OR MORE TO EVALUATE THE
SYSTEM REGISTRY PRIOR TO INSTALLING THE DRIVER.

Installation Instructions:
1) Start Windows 95b/98.

2) Confirm DirectX 6.1 or later is installed. DirectX for home users can
be obtained from http://www.microsoft.com/directx/download.asp

3) Confirm Microsoft's software version of OpenGL32.DLL is installed
in your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ directory using the instructions above.

4) You must download the zipped driver and unzip it to a directory on your
systems hard disk. For example C:\TEMP is a common directory used
to initially save installation files into.

5) Close all programs, click the Start button. Click the Run menu item.
Click the Browse button. Browse to the directory where you
unzipped the installation files.

7) Select SETUP.EXE and press OK.

8) Follow the onscreen instructions.

=====================================================
4) To Uninstall

Use Add/Remove Programs from your Windows 95/98 Control Panel to
uninstall the ATI Display Drivers.

=====================================================
5) Windows 95b/98 ATI RAGE 128 display driver problems

The Windows 95b/98 ATI RAGE 128 display driver is capable of using
monitor timing data contained within Windows 95/98. This data is
selected by configuring a monitor type at Windows 95/98 installation
time, or via the Settings page of the display properties sheet. The
Windows 95b/98 ATI RAGE 128 display driver may incorrectly interpret
Windows 95b/98 monitor timing data for some older monitors that require
interlaced modes. This may cause some options to be disabled.
A solution to this problem: select one of the (Standard monitor types)
available via the Settings page of the Display Properties sheet.

In Windows 95/98, display drivers can be installed via the Add New
Hardware wizard (although the procedure detailed in section 3.0 is
recommended). When the Windows 95/98 ATI RAGE 128 display driver
is installed via the Add New Hardware wizard, the Settings page is
not installed into the ATI RAGE 128 display adapter property sheet.

=====================================================
6) Windows 95/98 property page problems

When you adjust monitor settings in the Adjustment page of the Display
Properties sheet, your monitor could become unreadable. If this occurs,
press the ESC key to return to your previous monitor settings.

=====================================================
7) OpenGL Specific Issues

This driver release contains a full OpenGL ICD, which complies with the
OpenGL 1.1 specification. Hardware acceleration is provided for most
features contained in the specification at 16 bpp and 32 bpp. If you are
configured for 8 bpp or 24 bpp OpenGL will not be accelerated.

=====================================================
8) Errata

This driver release addresses the following issues:
- 3DMark 2000 flashing helicopter in game 1 test fixed

The following are known issues:
- Homeworld Direct3D has flashing background and may hang system. Use
OpenGL or Software Rendering as an alternative
- Re-Volt Antialias option causes corruption in loading screens
- Outlook Express icon corruption
