you think a GPU of today is harder to design than a high speed CPU??

Have you have any idea how to design and layout any dynamic circuits? Wavepipelined circuits? Ever heard of Domino logic?

Even centaur's statically oriented cpus can achieve much high clock than any of nv or ati's offerings on the same processes. Also do you have any experience designing an OOOE control logic?

Also CPUs, especially the ones with a more complex ISA, require an extensive test and validation process. Since it have to be compatible with old softwares. while NV and co can write their own drivers so they can do bug fixes very easily on the software side.

Also the power grids and clock networks used on a high clocking CPU are how harder to design since clocking skew have to be much lower.

just a few reason why CPU design is more complex than gpu designs.
