其實自秦之後 全中國(漢族為主區域)都已用同一種書寫文字了
但是各地方言 (口語) 卻依然不同
對於管理國事來說 各種書表與記錄反正都是用大家通用的文字
"天高皇帝遠" 上面再想管也管不到地方上你是說哪種方言!

現行的國語 (北京話) 是清代的官方語言
(正式來說應是滿文與漢文並用的 但是清入關後滿文漸漸示微
傳說至清末時 宮中皇族已不太通滿文了)
英文的 mandarin 一詞其實就是 "滿大人" 的英文發音

但是我發現其實台灣在推行國語上比對岸做得好得很多
台灣在哪裡說國語都能通 (除了跟一些莫明其妙的計程車司機之外)
但是在大陸的小型城市與鄉下 有相當多的人是不會說普通話的
最近他們好像還在大力推行說普通話呢!
