無論如何，新春推薦一張technical metal，純走技巧的前衛/死亡金屬團：Cynic
cynic，顧名思義是：憤世嫉俗者
cynicism，是"犬儒主義"
樂團的起伏蠻傳奇性的，就這麼一張1994年的Focus即成絕響，但其中樂手至今仍有活動

歌詞中多半是向內心探討式的，英文來說是retrospect的取向
比如How Could I 一曲
Love too often is only a dream
If I am harsh and unkind to myself
So I share these attitudes with you
Must I try?
How could I?
抑或是Veil of Maya
Illusion works, impenetrable
Weaving webs innumerable
Her gay pictures never fail
Crowd each other veil on veil
Maya subjects you

A charmer who will be believed
By man who thirsts to be deceived

這張專輯並未有任何的代理版，就metal來說這一張一開始也是十分難以下咽
但是幾經咀嚼與反芻，這張將會是收藏中不可取代的經典
因就其演奏性；樂器表現、編曲的多樣性、充滿實驗性的風格
與不像vocal的vocal、拍案叫絕的吉他solo，都將令人愛不釋手
