As expected, WindowsNT 4 Server installed without a hitch. Absolutely no problems at all were encountered setting this machine up as file server/BDC.

Windows2000 Pro on the other hand, had a few glaring problems. Although this motherboard is touted as being ACPI compliant, it really isn't. I was suprised at first to see that Win2k Pro detected the motherboard as ACPI during install. This is the first dual BX motherboard that has done this for me out of the box (with no BIOS flash or forced ACPI install). Unfortunately, openning the task manager revealed that both processors were at 50% load even when the machine was idle. This is a problem that we see often in nonACPI compliant motherboards. If you are looking to take advantage of the power saving features of Windows2000, Asus recommends that you return the motherboard to them for some "hardware modifications". It seems that the ACPI problem can't be fixed with a simple BIOS flash.
