Thanks, I already did contact ASUS for tech support, however it still might take days or even weeks to get a response from such a large company no matter how good the service rating is. Even though I bought this ASUS NB with good service in consideration.

I thought posting on this forum may provide some faster solutions.
If I don't figure out how to solve this problem by Saturday, then this problem doesn't matter to me anymore

The 8139 NIC/LAN port usually works fine, I can hook it up to the ACER via crossover cable to form a LAN. It worked fine with my desktop two weeks ago.
