Travelling Through "Hyperspace"
Travel across light years is now commonplace for the starships of the
Terran Federation. The concept of "hyperspace" is not so much one of
time and distance as it is the precise calculation of points in space
where hyperspace portals are generated. In times past, these portals
existed naturally and were called "black holes." Today, they are
generated between two coordinates by the Cherenkov stardrive and the
area between them is called "hyperspace." While normal space distances
is measured in light years, the travel time in "hyperspace" is
accomplished in mere hours or days.
Unfortunately, the Terran
Federation is not alone in its ability to move through "hyperspace." The
Klendauthu arachnids also have the ability and do so by hurling plasma-
propelled asteroids into the paths of our spacecraft and even onto our
home planet.
