其實SMC很多產品是Acction所代工的。這種封裝的晶片，別說與3com拚，這麼大的晶片，大概是與Intel第一代、第二代的82559、82557有拚而已。
這一類舊封裝超大晶片的特色：秏電。現在即使是1G的網卡，也秏不到一、兩w的電，不過那種超大晶片的網卡晶片，在全速時幾乎可到10w的秏電量，大概是TNT2 32MB的秏電量。以現在的PCI卡來說，除了Mpeg2一類硬體壓縮晶片還有這麼高的秏電量外，其它都很少在三w以上了。裝上這種卡，最好先擣告一下。如果不幸你的板子在PCI的設計並不講究的話....10w，10w的秏電量....
此外，以PCI 2.2的規格來說，1999年所出的卡，很難會輔合PCI2.2的規範。我是沒有實際使用這張卡過，不過若不輔合PCI2.2，在現代的主機板上是個負擔.....不過，好像沒多少人在乎自己的PCI卡是用3.3V或5V在跑。也沒有多少注意到自己的PCI是以133m/s在跑還是33m/s而已（哈，不只是ide的規格在改.....pci的規格也是默默在修改）。
