美國總統拜登過去的失言歷史不斷，也經常變成共和黨支持者嘲笑的笑柄，不過這一次的失言，可能很少有人笑得出來，因為美國媒體人驚爆，拜登曾經在白宮說出，「毀滅台灣計畫」（plan for the destruction of Taiwan）。

美國華府廣播節目著名主持人尼克森（Garland Nixon）在推特上發文表示，白宮內部人士透露，當被問及是否有比新保守主義烏克蘭項目（the neocon Ukraine project）更大的災難時，拜登回答說，「等到你看到我們摧毀台灣的計劃。」
