Pres. Donald Trump touts chloroquine, an old malaria drug, that doctors say may help treat novel coronavirus, claims it will be available "almost immediately."
However, FDA Commissioner Steven Hahn says that while chloroquine is approved for use against malaria and, in some cases arthritis, the FDA wants a large-scale clinical trial to determine what impact it could have on a patient battling novel coronavirus.
FDA Commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn said
“As an example, we may have the right drug, but it may not be in the appropriate dosage form right now, and that may do more harm than good.”
