Can't blame him, mass shooting, for better or worse, is probably one of the most well-known American features around the world, even though for most Americans that's something they are never going to experience in person.

I have lived in the States for more than 8 years now. I have yet to see a gun out of its holster, so it doesn't really affect me. Until then...
