It was the longest nine-inning game in postseason history, breaking the record of 4:32 set in Game 5 of last year’s NLDS, when the Dodgers eliminated the Nationals with Clayton Kershaw earning the save. Only two regular-season nine-inning games have ever lasted as long. It probably won’t surprise you to learn that both were between the Yankees and Red Sox, in 2006 (4:45) and 2007 (4:43.)
