Q: Hello Jeff, can you tell us a little bit about the driver differences between this new Captivator 1400 and the current version?

Jeff: The new has the same geometry as the Captivator 4000ULF drivers (different impedance for the 1400w amp).

We're really excited about the new Captivator 118HT. We're measuring the same output as the 1400 from 50hz and up while still putting out 105hz at 16hz, 2m, RMS. Hopefully, Josh (data-bass) can test the Captivator 118HT, 1400 and S1 in the spring.

Q: Jeff, could you chime in about how the driver is able to put out more low end with the same amount of power? The bigger ports mean there is less enclosure volume, so the power requirement should go up, but the 2015 Captivator 1400 is already pretty severely power limited. The other way is more motor strength, but the old driver is already very high.

Jeff: We modified the cabinet to regain the cabinet volume. With the new driver we had to lower the DCR a little to get the efficiency back that was lost from the longer coil. The in band and z min is exactly 2.5 ohms which is the minimum the 700 ASC module will put out full power.
