He continued, saying that Grand Slams are always a priority. “Absolutely, Grand Slams are a priority for us; that's obvious,” Federer said. “The Olympics are different. If you lose, the disappointment is greater since you play it every four years. We are not used to the Olympics. We are used to saying, 'Wimbledon went badly; we'll try again next year.’”

Federer first arrived onto the Olympic scene in 2000, when he made a splash in Sydney. “I played at Sydney when I was a boy and I reached the semi-finals,” Federer said. “Then I lost twice; it was so sad. I needed to win a medal; it was almost like if there was an emptiness in me. But, at the same time [in Sydney], I met Mirka.”
