I met a guy here in Philadelphia who was beaten by the police. He was bruised and sustained a fractured hip. The police gave him a chance to make one phone call. He called American Airlines to let them know that he will not be available for his flight to London. Upon getting off the phone the officer laughed because he said that he wold not be leaving this precinct until he posted bail. He told the officer that he was not just travelling to London, but that he was one of the pilots. The police continued to laugh until a VP from American called to inquire about one of thier pilots. The officer turned red in disbelief that this young African American flew one of the largest planes in use at the time. He sued the city and was awarded a large settlement. His crime was running away from an unmarked car that passed him twice as he walked to his mother's house in a lower economic neighborhood.
