With the Nationals going home, people are going to wonder what would have happened if
right-hander Stephen Strasburg was not shut down. Rizzo said he doesn't have any regrets
about Strasburg not being put on the playoff roster.

Strasburg was shut down in early September as part of the long-term plan to protect his
right elbow, on which Tommy John surgery was performed in September 2010.

"I'm not going to think about it. We had a plan in mind," Rizzo said. "It was something
that we had from the beginning. I stand by my decision. We'll take the criticism as they
come. We have to do what's best for the Washington Nationals, and we think we did."
