BERLIN, Germany--China-based company Hisense is a home appliance and electronics manufacturer with regional offices worldwide. The company is currently showcasing a rather special 4K panel at IFA. Aside from its luscious 65-inch screen and ultra-high 3,840 x 2,160 resolution, what we have here may well be one of the first Android 4.0-powered models. It even features Hisense's own app store and cloud storage, too.
While most 4K TVs can play 4K photos through their USB ports, this 65-incher will additionally support 4K video--with frame rates of up to 30 frames per second--via USB. According to the company's representative, there is an onboard video-upscaling function capable of optimizing regular content for 4K playback as well. Other key features include:
3D support via RF active shutter 3D glasses
Voice control
Facial recognition
Gesture recognition
Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL)-compatibility
You are not alone if some of these functions sound familiar since they are found on higher-end Samsung TVs. The worldwide launch for this Hisense 4K TV is scheduled around October to November. No pricing is available for now.
