Development
Concurrent with production of the Banshee aerial target (which see), TTL (now part of Meggitt Defence Systems) developed a payload-carrying version known as Spectre for a number of customer-supplied payloads including daylight real-time surveillance, EW and ECM packages.In 1991, following requests from a number of customers, TTL completed development of both 'harassment' and 'payload' derivatives of the Banshee, and now offers low-light real-time surveillance and EW packages as optional modules for new or existing Banshee customers. Spectre is a longer-range version, with greatly increased endurance and more than twice the payload-carrying capacity. Its last known application was as part of one of the unsuccessful bids for the UK Watchkeeper contract.
