有解經家說，這個死亡是指「靈」死了，意思是跟上帝之間的連繫斷了，不是身體的死亡。
聽過這樣一個比喻：好比手提電腦的電線拔掉了，電腦還是可以運作一段時間，但是只要這條電線沒有再接上，最後電用完了，電腦就再見了。
