Don't burn the *embedded*.img(since 0.69.*) to a CD/CDRW. The *embedded*.img(since 0.69.*) file is used in these situations: The system doesn't have a CD rom; The system doesn't support to boot from CD ROM. Then you can write the image directly to the install destination by following the
M0n0wall guide.
FreeNAS LiveCD
“LiveCD” is the new name of the old “ISO” ⇒ This release is started from a CDROM, and create a RAM drive for FreeNAS (only one read access during startup), and use a MS DOS (FAT) formatted floppy disk or USB key for saving the configuration file.
FreeNAS Embedded
“Embedded” is the new name of the old “Generic-pc”. ⇒ This release, installed on an hard drive or on a flash device, use a RAM drive (like the LiveCD) for limiting access to a flash devise. But it write the configuration on the flash device.
