don't even think about single dimm 4GB
I had a customer looking at the new Toshiba Qosmio notebook
max is 8GB and the machine came with 4 GB
I phone Kingston for two 4GB single sodimm
each single doimm is about $500
so total of 1K for 8 GB sodimm... OMG
with the single dimm 4GB the price is still quiet high
I don't even think with in the DDR3 period the price will ever come down
I really don't see the price drop in the future if people will mostly be using 4 GB max
One funny thing I saw it yesterday on Apple.ca
if you customize a Mac Pro with Dual CPU
# 6GB (6x1GB)
# 8GB (4x2GB) [Add $120.00]
# 12GB (6x2GB) [Add $360.00]
# 16GB (8x2GB) [Add $600.00]
# 32GB (8x4GB) [Add $7,320.00]
what a rip off LOL
by going with 32GB, you can pretty much buy two machines of the dual CPU Mac Pro
I am hoping to see new toys in the next coming yr with SATA3 and also USB3 with it. Those will speed things up by alot.
