Gore-Tex

Gore-Tex is manufactured from polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). PTFE is made using an emulsion polymerization process with the fluorosurfactant perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA, also known as C8). PFOA has been detected in the parts per billion range in finished PTFE goods and the blood serum of general populations.

Gore-Tex是美國W.L. Gore & Associates公司的註冊商標，為1976年由Wilbert L. Gore、Rowena Taylor與Robert W. Gore（Wilbert L. Gore之子）共同發明的防水透氣性布料。此種布料廣為用在登山及禦寒等戶外衣著之用

...GORE-TEX是品牌名稱，是由高爾夫婦於1950年代所創辦，是利用氟材料"聚四氟乙烯"(PTFE)所製成的纖維；此纖維具有以下的特性：
1. 高強度
2. 低收縮
3. 耐磨、耐腐蝕
4. 抗紫外線
5. 抗老化
6. 多孔性(9億個微孔/平方英吋)
等等

一般最為人所熟知的應用為在鞋子及衣服上，因為它具有防水、防風及"透氣"鼓掌的作用。為何他可以達到這些要求? 請注意上述第6項特性，因為它的多孔性所以可以透氣，但是由於它的孔徑小於水分子所以可以達到防水、防風的效果，並且請注意GORE-TEX"不是"以布料型態存在，而是以薄膜型態，市面上看到的產品是布料貼合GORE-TEX薄膜再貼合布料，所以一般消費者會誤以為GORE-TEX是布料。


基本上GORE-TEX不是成品品牌，是技術認證品牌，所以任何品牌只要有經過他認證過都可以掛GORE-TEX的吊牌，....

PS2:因為專利早已過期,所以有他廠可以用類似的材料做出類似的成品達到類似的效果. 當然有人買原廠是沒啥關係的...
