last week at Best, from L to R, all in default PQ setting.
Sampo $27900, Pio Kuro $99000, LG 42/20 $39900, Panny 80/85, $39900/$64900, respectively.
Pio BDP70, component out.
media: HVCast, DVE BD, HD ref BD.
Sampo: brightest [somehow over bright], slowest response to change resol, resol is comparable with Panny FHD, colours saturation is better than both Panny.
Pio Kuro: has most saturated colours, blackest/best CR, good still monoscope. but overscan isn't stable when change BD70 to different resol settings.
LG: it beats both Panny in most tests except grayscale and still monoscope. it gives clearest moving monoscope resol [even beats Panny FHD], overscan is best [lowest] no matter what resol setting on BD70. colour saturation is next to Pio, brightness is next to Sampo.
both Panny give somehow blurred image, even worse than Sampo. colours have no good saturation [poorest].
Panny 42/80: it has best/smoothest grayscale! that's all, loser in rest tests.
Panny 42/85: bit sharper than Panny 42/80, but can't really see FHD advantage over LG/Pio/Sampo no FHD.
all PDPs have less performance scalers than Pio BD70. clearest image is 1080i, next clearest is 720p. 1080p actually gives more blur image.
summary:
if really tight on budget, get Sampo.
if want overall winner, get Pio.
if want best C/P, get LG.
both Panny ain't recommended.
BTW, that Best sales rep is knowledgeable!
