New look and even faster scan engine for Avira products

The Avira virus protection starts the second quarter of 2008 with a faster engine

Tettnang, 14 April 2008 – Avira announces the new release of its AntiVir products with an incredibly fast virus scanner, AntiVir Scan Engine 8.

A highlight of the new versions AntiVir Professional, AntiVir Premium and Premium Security Suite is a new graphical user interface. A vertical menu system enables easier and faster access to the desired feature. One mouse click is all the user has to do to obtain information on the security status of the system. In addition, the new menu navigation allows the starting of updates, search runs and renewals directly in the interface. The new antivirus engine has increased performance of 20%.

The users of the products AntiVir Premium and AntiVir Professional have better protection when surfing the Net thanks to the newly integrated WebGuard module. WebGuard examines the http-based Internet traffic for infections and automatically blocks phishing and malware URLs.

The software is now much easier to update, for instance, you can choose between updating detection relevant parts or product updates. A reporting function informs the user directly about new updates.

The new Failsafe System offers protection, even if software updates failed or other problems did not allow an update.

The new AntiBot function of the Avira Premium Security Suite examines incoming and outgoing emails and consequently prevents against the improper usage of a computer in bot nets.

In addition to the consumer products, the business solution AntiVir Professional also shows brilliant performance results. Its integrated MailGuard examines incoming and outgoing emails for infections and it includes optional white listing.
