With Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Gerald Laird vying for the job, manager Ron Washington said Wednesday that he's not ready to name the Rangers' starting catcher yet.

"We haven't gotten to the point yet where we're ready to announce who's the leader," Washington said. General manager Jon Daniels indicated last month that Saltalamacchia will not be kept in the majors as a backup, so with both Laird and veteran Adam Melhuse around, Salty could be headed back to Triple-A.
