DENVER, Oct. 15 — The Colorado Rockies will take
a 10-game winning streak and a 21-1 run to the first World Series appearance in the 15-year history of their franchise. Perhaps now fans outside of their region will get to know them.
The Rockies are the second team to win each of its first seven games to open the postseason. The other was the 1976 Cincinnati Reds, who went 7-0 in sweeping to a World Series title when the maximum number of postseason victories was seven.
Since the playoffs were expanded to three rounds in 1995, two teams have won eight in succession: The 2004 Red Sox and the 2005 White Sox.
