北市目前就是要汰換目前各里里長裝的監視系統，因為有解析度達不到警方辦案的要求、儲存方式不一且新舊任里長交接對監視器維護率低等缺點不勝枚舉，所以全面改由警察局架設、監控、維護來達成平均低成本、統一北市所有的監視器規格(解析度、儲存系統、傳輸方式)、針對各街道小巷架設地點尋求當地里長意見予以完整評估(監視不重覆、治安死角多角度加裝)、有損壞的話依系統回報可迅速查覺並修復、北市各警局可隨時馬上傳輸調閱等優點，所以目前北市各里里長裝的監視器就是打算自然掛掉也不予以修復、裝新的，才會有之前師大學生在24小時監控攝影的地下道被搶劫卻沒拍到歹徒身影的治安空窗期情形(監視系統壞掉卻不能修)。另外北市警局好像有考慮監視器採無線網路傳輸的樣子，能節省電纜舖設的大筆經費也可防止被剪斷或偷走也能加以利用全北市無線網路的優勢。
