Santa Monica police kill man during chase

A man armed with a handgun was shot to death Monday after he turned toward police officers them during a chase in Santa Monica, authorities said.

But a witness said the man was unarmed.

"He wouldn't do nothing wrong like that and I'm sad that the police shot my son, my oldest son," she said.

"I did not see him point any kind of weapon at the police at all," witness Gino Carbajal told the station.

It was the second deadly police shooting in Los Angeles County within a six-hour period.
