.50 cal bullets have a 'Full Metal Jacket', they are not a lump of lead.
Katanas are not magical. No really, they aren't.
1. The traditional folding process of the blade was because the Japanese steel was not very pure, so they had to hammer out the impurities in the metal.
2. A Katana is a very good slashing weapon, but meant for use against bamboo/other wood armour. It is not good for cleaving through chainmail/plate armour. Heavier European swords are better at that.
