打擊能力較強的打者都會放在打序前幾位，以增加打擊機會。
另外一般簡單的說法
一棒：上壘
二棒：推進
三棒：安打
四棒：清壘
五棒：一擊
六棒：冷箭
七棒：持平
八棒：守備
九棒：調整、戰術一棒
但現在不見得一定是這樣排，
也有一派是將最強的打者就放在第二、三棒。
