as far as I know, Adobe Reader 7 supports* Asia language(Traidition/Simple chinese, etc), your friend should be* able to read it even his/her OS is english version.
PS. Reader 7 needs* to download language package in able to read Chinese.
aquasenno: open Adobe 7, help > check for update now > click on language support
