Actually, reporters at CNN don't have any British accent, they still speak in standard American English. I think the reason why students in Taiwan can't realize the CNN news report is perhaps the way of thinking. Even if our students may understand every word the reporters say, they may have difficulties in putting words together, because they still try to translate those sentences into Chinese, while next sentence comes up quickly before our students figure out the meanings of the previous sentences. In other words, it has very little to do with accent, the important issue is to think in English. If you want to say something in English, do not try to think of translating sentences into English then speak out, it will take a lot of time, a...




I know I have the kind of problem.
Before I realize the meaning of the English sentences.
I always translate those sentences into Chinese.
Since I studid English. It has become a habit for me,and diffcult to improve.
It was not only in reading,but also in listening.
In listening,if the sentences were short,it would not become a problem.
When the sentences were long,it became a big problem to understand the maening in this way.
Does anyone can tell me how to overcome the problem?
