Next step for Wang: Chien-Ming Wang made his first Minor League rehab start for Triple-A Columbus on Monday, throwing three innings in the Clippers' 3-1 win over Indianapolis.
Wang allowed one run on two hits, walking one and striking out three. General manager Brian Cashman said in an e-mail that Wang "did well" in his outing.
Wang, who has been on the disabled list since the All-Star break with a right shoulder injury, will likely make at least one more start before rejoining the Yankees in September.
"I'm sure that's going to be the case," said Torre. "This is his first one, so I'm sure he's going to need at least one more."
