國外 cdfreak 的討論區是建議用 4x 來測試。
原因是因為：
1. 比用 2.4x/2x 或 1x 來得省時間
2. 能保持用 CLV 的方式讀取

換句話說，能用 1x 來讀取是最好的，但是為了節省時間，
以及有比較的相同基準，所以都建議用 4x 來讀取。

And another note is that we normally scan/recommend scanning the discs at 4X CLV speed since this saves time compared to 2X/2.4X and 1X scanning and still offers CLV reading, but by lowering the speed to 2X(DVD-R/RW)/2.4X(DVD+R/RW) or 1X the amount of reported errors may drop on some discs.

很贊同欣賞您提供出處的刨根探源態度，可惜在這方面 CDFreaks 的大頭們不怎麼上道；有段時間我也曾很重視他們的話，但後來發覺 CDRLabs 和 CDRInfo 的行家較通博。您引的話是針對 LiteOn DVD 燒錄機說的 (但 DVD 光碟機不適用) ，有意思的是很多 LiteOn DVD 燒錄機以 4X 讀取的 PIE/PIF 通常高出其他速度的。
