本人目前29歲,太太26歲.結婚四年. 目前兩人都在國內某大晶片組公司工作,我薪水四萬八,她三萬六.... 我們一直沒有生小孩,因為我太太想要自己代小孩....如果這樣,四萬八的薪資實在是不夠...... 
最近,我太太懷孕了......我想到未來就越想越害怕......雖然公司有獎金及分紅,但是也就一年九十萬上下.....減調兩萬二的房租,及扁政府完全沒有鼓勵結婚生小孩的所得稅,生活品質不知道會便得怎麼樣.....
為了解決這個問題,我就想說換個工作也許可以解決.........我就到個大求職網站章貼我的履歷表...一開始都是國內的公司,都只多出幾千塊.......
但是,最近忽然有一間全球有三萬五千名員工的大公司找我面試,面試完之後,居然說要給我年薪"八萬美金"......只是工作地點在美國,因為父母都在台灣,也是非常不捨得這樣做.............
我把這間事告知現任公司人事部門,希望他們幫我把薪資調一調,只... |

Your situation is similiar to mine. I have been in the US for 8 years, and I am currently working for a software company in San Jose. To be honest with you,
I think America is really not a paradise, especially for us!
Living expense is big issue in here. House, Car, Insurance, Food,..........
Make you crazy all the time. From my opinion, I think you couple have to have at least 100 K annual salary in order meet your requirement.
Why?
1.Too expensive.
100K after tax is about 65K, which means 5500USD monthly. You will need to spend 1600 ~ 2000 for house rental or mortgage loan. (Food/shopping/entertainment) 1000+gas 200+utility250+insurance 200 (for two car)+baby care 800 = 2450. You can make a calculation from about list and see how much you left. remember! The list I show you here is just a basic requirement.
2. NO security. More and more companies start to move their project out to other country in order to cut down the operation cost. Those job opurtinuties will not going to come back once it goes to other country. Companies usually lay-off engineers first because engineers' salary is a big burden for them.
So, ask yourself..... How long do you think you can stay on this position? What are you going to do if you get lay-off? Maybe you will say "looking for another job", but do you have green card?
I think you need to think more about this.
