畢達哥拉斯 (Pythagoras, 580 BC- 500 BC) 黃金分割 (Golden Section) :
畢氏學派的人們出了一個讓人思考的問題：即給一線段 AB，欲在 AB 上找到一點 P 使該線段分成 AB:AP=AP:AB 這個線段 AB 能如此分割，是最為藝術美的分割，後世的人乃稱之為黃金分割 (Golden Section)。
