most new nb from ibm won't accept non-ibm-approval wlan module. If your wlan module doesn't work at all, please go to ibm web site and download the previous version BIOS. Most BIOS dated before 2003 should work.
I guess ibm lock their bios to check the pci subsystem/subvendor ID.
