PCDVD數位科技討論區 - [新聞] PCI 下一代 PCI Express 定案

PCI Express 本來是叫 3GIO (第三代 IO 的意思)，目前已被 PCI 協會正式納入規格，也正名為「PCI Express」，看來 Intel 的制訂規格實力不容小覷！

至於啥是 PCI Express (3GIO)，就是準備取代目前的 PCI 2.2、甚至 PCI-X 的規格，採用序列傳輸方式，當作晶片 (組) 與晶片 (組) 或晶片 (組) 與插卡之間的溝通介面之規格，速度極快，不過短期不可能上市！

About PCI Express
PCI Express is a new serial I/O technology that is compatible with the current PCI software environment and which defines a packetized protocol and a load/store architecture. Previously code-named Third Generation I/O (3GIO), its layered architecture enables attachment to copper, optical, or emerging physical signaling media. AMD 的 Hyper Link 著實又被重重打了一記！不過影響應該是還好，不過這規格大概會被侷限到 CPU <-> CPU、CPU <-> 晶片組之間的構連方式了。出了晶片組，下一代的 PCI 就是 PCI Express... ;)

目前 ATi 與 nVIDIA 都已經迅速宣示支持，真是狗腿的兩家公司啊～ :D
