minimum grade to play 1080p H264?

which display card is minimum grade to play 1080p H264 smoothly?

is higher score in game = smoother H264 playback?:p

DVI + audio = native HDMI in performance? only a few cards have native HDMI port. if DVI + audio can't match native HDMI, then bro will spend more $ to get HDMI card.

which card do you guys recommend the most for H264 movie playback?

CPU: E6550.
MB: asus P5B SE.
RAM: 2G x 2.

I think your CPU that play 1080p H264 smoothly already by software decoder.
And higher score in game isn't equal to smoother H264 playback, example 8800GTX, old 8800GTS ...etc.(when you use low level CPU)
If you don't play 3D heavy game, you could buy ATI HD2000 serial VGA card.
Otherwise, you could buy ATI HD3870 or nVidia 8800GT/new GTS serial VGA card.

E6550 軟解絕對夠力, 所以你只要找一張原生HDMI 的卡就可以了

除非你還要玩遊戲, 那另當別論

with powerful CPU computing resources like C2D, you can rely on CPU to handle H264 playback.

Hardware chip on VGA for H264 decode gains no credit for me.

It's suitable for legacy CPU users who need to release CPU burden and with

patience to fine tune the VGA utility. Soft-decode always has no compatibility issue.

Bechmark score or game performance is nothing to do with H.264 decode

tks all for comments.

thought HW decoding is better than SW decoding, or I am wrong?
I don't play PC game. for gaming, I just use PS3 or wii.

which one will be better in movie watching? both cards have native HDMI.
Intel 4500 + MSI 8600GTS/512 vs
Intel 6550 + Elsa 2600XT/256.

Hardware decoding is good for CPU offload. (if you have really slow CPU)
Soft-decoding by CPU has best compatibility. (no worries about which card you pick)
Any Core 2 Duo you could purchase is sufficient to handle soft-decoding well.
