小弟我想擴充一下儲存空間
看見這款WD企業級的硬碟
他的產品特性中說到
產品特性:

時間有限的錯誤恢復 (TLER) -- 提高了與RAID適配器的相容性；防止硬碟因錯誤恢復過程時間太長而出現故障，這種故障在桌上型硬碟上較常見。

重要： 由於其時間有限的錯誤恢復功能，此產品專用於伺服器產品，不建議　　　用於桌上型電腦。

不知是否有大大可以為小弟解說一下這個機制是什麼意思...如果用於桌上型電腦..沒有要組RAID..只是當成一般的硬碟使用..會有什麼風險嗎...謝謝

您應該也是打算買SD MTBF百萬小時5年保系列吧？
目前我正用WD3200SD放養動物。主機板是NF7-S 2.0 SATA Si3112A，
沒搞RAID，衝著他MTBF百萬小時5年保買來放牧的，目前情況良好 :shy:

這位大大..我是想拿來做數位剪接的影音儲存...

Q: What is time-limited error recovery and why do I need it?
A: Desktop drives are designed to protect and recover data, at times pausing for as much as a few minutes to make sure that data is recovered. Inside a RAID system, where the RAID controller handles error recovery, the drive needn't pause for extended periods to recover data. In fact, heroic error recovery attempts can cause a RAID system to drop a drive out of the array. WD Caviar RE is engineered to prevent hard drive error recovery fallout by limiting the drive's error recovery time. With error recovery factory set to seven seconds, the drive has time to attempt a recovery, allow the RAID controller to log the error, and still stay online.
不過WD也推薦用於多媒體影音範圍
Q: I need A/V (audio/video) extensions.
A: A/V extensions offered by some competitors are relics of a time when hard drives were much slower and required extensive error handling logic when overwhelmed by the application. Today's much faster hard drives make these extensions unnecessary. We urge you to test WD Caviar RE in your A/V environment.

若覺得不保險也可考慮16MB buffer的KS系列，16MB buffer有益於影音編輯的效能提升。
