機率問題…請機率高手入內解惑
 

問一題機率的問題
Suppose a fair coin is tossed n times.Each coin toss costs d dollars and the reward in obtaining X heads is aX^2 + bx . Find the expected vvalue of the net reward.

小弟思考
頭的出現率是1/2 擲 n 次 所以期望次數應為 n/2 次
所以淨賺應該是
a( n/2)^2 + b(n/2) - dn

但小弟百思不得其解的是答案卻是
a(n/4 + n^2/4) + b(n/2) - dn

請教機率高手大大，替小弟解惑一下

因為 aX^2 + bx 不是一個線性的函數，不能直接用 X 的期望值來算
要回到 reward 期望值的基本定義
E[reward] = 所有的 (ai^2+b^i)*p[i] 加總

Pi=加總[x=0 to n] C( n 取 x) * (1/2)^n
E[reward]=加總[x=0 to n] (ax^2+bx )* C( n 取 x) * (1/2)^n ,
....
好複雜哦…
